Kiss and Drive

Kiss and Drive

The Kiss and Drive system is designed to:

  • ensure children and families are safe at all times,
  • minimise the impact on school neighbours,
  • enable families to collect the children as efficiently as possible.

Holy Spirit’s designated Kiss and Drive zone is located on Bent Street and is in place for morning drop off and afternoon pick up each school day. All school families play a role, and we thank you in advance for your support as we communicate and reinforce Kiss and Drive.

APPLICABLE AT ALL TIMES

  • NO U TURN AT SKIPTON
Parents driving to school via Brompton Road or Tranmere Way are asked to refrain from making a U Turn at Skipton
Way (closest to Brompton Road). It is preferred that your U turn is completed near the Bent Street Park or if no queue
issues, at the Skipton Way - Keaney Place intersection.

MORNING: 8.30 am to 9.00 am

  • NO PARKING IN YELLOW BAYS
Parents pull up to the first available bay in the Kiss & Drive zone (YELLOW MARKED BAYS). At no time during the morning drop off period is parking permitted in the yellow bays. Parking is permitted in the white bays, as long as it does not impede the operation of Kiss and Drive
  • ALIGHT KERBSIDE
Drive forward as far as you can, close to the kerb. Always ensure children alight from the vehicle
on the kerb side. At no instance is a parent or child to alight or enter a vehicle from the Driver’s
side once the Kiss & Drive is in motion. Kiss & Drive is not recommended for parents who need to
get out of their vehicle to assist children with seating, bags etc.
  • MOVE ALONG
Only stay long enough to see your children safely onto school grounds. As each car leaves the Kiss
& Drive zone all vehicles move forward to make way for waiting vehicles.
  • DON’T LEAVE VEHICLE
Parents are not able to park and leave their vehicle in the designated Kiss & Drive yellow marked bays. If you need to accompany your child into the school please park in a designated parking bay. In the morning you may park in a Kiss and Drop white zone.

AFTERNOON: 2.50 pm to 3.30 pm

  • TELL YOUR CHILDREN
Make prior arrangements with your child to be waiting at the designated safe point for "Kiss & Drive”. The safe point is at the end of the oval nearest to Brompton Road.
  • NO PARKING IN KISS AND DRIVE BAYS
Parents are not able to park and leave their vehicle in the designated Kiss & Drop bays on Bent Street. If you need to collect your child from school, please park elsewhere.
  • QUEUE, DO NOT BLOCK
Parents pull up to the first available bay in the Kiss & Drive zone, if all bays are full then create a queue along Bent Street. Please do not block driveway entrances on Bent Street or block the Keaney Place intersection. Drive forward as far as you can, close to the kerb.
  • WAIT FOR CHILDREN IN YELLOW ZONE
Children waiting in the designated "Kiss & Drive" area will be called by the Teacher. The 3 vehicles in the yellow zone will be loaded. Stay long enough to see your children safety into your vehicle and seatbelts fastened before moving off. As each car leaves the Kiss & Drive zone all vehicles move forward.Students are NOT permitted to walk down Kiss & Drive lane to meet their parents in the white zone.
  • NO WAITING
If your child is not there when the Teacher on duty calls their name, DO NOT WAIT, move on and do another circuit of the block and re-enter the Kiss & Drive zone. This takes only a couple of minutes and is essential to the effective operation of the Kiss & Drive.
  • NO CROSSING BETWEEN CARS
At no time should an adult or child cross in between cars in the Kiss & Drive line. This is a constantly moving line of traffic and should not be interrupted by pedestrians crossing Bent Street. Parents parked on Skipton Way should cross Bent Street at the Brompton Road roundabout.
